There might be some slop left to right and up and down with the 3/16" wall. You could have your 1.5 " steel tool arm milled to the appropriate dimensions but that is adding complexity.

However today I was grinding something and as the grinder winds down I hear this tick, tick. noise! So pulled the belt and put on a new one. Still hear it! Stopped and pulled the new belt and put the old belt back on. Still hear the tick tick and now it is getting louder. So I don't think it is the belt but, checked the seam and it appears OK!

It's a KMG clone kit, but doesn't come close to the smoothness of my KMG. Makes a big difference when you start getting close to the finish line. Once you add the expense of a quality 8" to 10" contact wheel, arm, adjustable square rest, small radius wheels and yoke, you are going to be getting closer to the price of a higher grade grinder.

The KMG construction relies on butt joints, which means you're going to run into some trouble here, and when the cost of waterjet cutting is considered, I think the idea can be thrown out all together. The precision you'll find on regular cold-drawn mild steel bar will far exceed anything a waterjet can do.
